Biography

Nate Thorne serves as the Assistant Town Manager for the Town of Plainfield. Nate began his tenure with the Town in 2004 in the parks department with the opening of the Richard A. Carlucci Recreation and Aquatic Center. He has served as Deputy Director of the department with responsibilities that included serving as the General Manager of the recreation center. In his time in parks and recreation he served on numerous boards including serving as the President of the Indiana Parks and Recreation Association and has received recognition including the award of Indiana Professional of the Year in 2013.


Assistant Town Manager

Nate is known for his proficiency in operations management and administrative services including Human Resource functions. In 2016, the Assistant Town Manager Role was created to oversee Human Resources but also take on a larger administrative services function and Nate was appointed to the position. In this new role, Nate oversees the Human Resource and Information Technology (IT) departments as well as serving as the liaison with the Clerk Treasurer’s office and all town departments concerning operations.


Education

He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business with a double major in Business Management and Human Resource Management. In addition, he earned his Master’s Degree in Public Management from Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs. Nate is a 2006 graduate of Leadership Hendricks County and former board member as well as a School Commission Member at Saint Susanna School in Plainfield.
